Is your dog home alone?

Bring her to Doggy Daycare!
Most people have the same reaction when we mention doggy daycare,"aww, how cute!!! We'll be the first to admit, it is pretty darn cute to see how much fun our four-legged friends have at A Place for Paws. However, Doggy Daycare is so much more than that!
Lots of Exercise
Canine obesity and lack of fitness abound lately. Bordom and lack of mental and physical exercise are a leading cause of problem behaviors. If your pet is in need of additional exercise for health or behavioral reasons, Doggy Daycare is a great place to start. Dogs in daycare spend at least half of their time being active. Dogs at home alone may spend less than 10% of their time awake. daycare is good for your dog's mind and body

Let Me Relax!
Ever have a day where all you wanted to do when you get home is relax? Our daycare's supervised play group offers dogs mental and physical stimulation, so she will come home tired and ready to relax with you. A calmer dog makes a happy family!
More Focused Training
Whether you currently bring your dog to Steps training classes, or are working with her at home, a day at Doggy Daycare can help you achieve the the focus you need from an active dog. After daycare, your dog will have gotten all of her,"wild" out with the other dogs. Having missed you, she'll be attentive, and ready to preform her best for you.

Separation Anxiety Solution
If your dog suffers from separation anxiety, or stress from being alone, daycare may be part of the solution. Combined with behavioral counseling, Doggy Daycare can help to make your dog independent. Your dog will never be alone at our daycare.

Housebreaking Help
If your dog is not housebroken and you need to be away longer than he can "hold it"(over 3 or 4 hours for young pups), you are setting your dog up to fail. The more accidents you prevent, the quicker he'll be housebroken. Again, we can help! While you're at work, we'll make sure your dog or puppy is outside as many times as needed to help build solid housebreaking habits.
Outta The Way!
Construction and home improvements can be stressful on the whole family including your dog. She may be frightened or confused by strange people, noises, and smells. Instead of being under foot, scared, and trying to dash out the door, she could be playing with friends and getting lots of attention from our daycare staff. When you plan your next home improvement, also plan a trip to daycare for your dog!
Keeping a Watchful Eye
If your dog is recovering from surgery, you may feel uncomfortable leaving him home alone. We would be happy to have your recovering dog at daycare to keep an eye on him for you, and notify you if we feel there are any changes or concerns
It's About Socialization!
Proper socialization during puppyhood is critical for raising a confident, well adjusted dog. Research has shown that puppies who miss out on this important interaction, often display fearfulness, aggression, and / or an inability to be comfortable with new people, other dogs or novel situations.
Socialization must also continue into adulthood. If you have a shy dog, a dog lacking in confidence or one who is over-stimulated by new people, or dogs, daycare can help!

For shy dogs, our Daycare Staff will work slowly to introduce them to other dogs to make certain they have a positive experience. We will work within your dog's limits, and reward proper interactions. Your dog will benefit from increased confidents and less stress in everyday life.
If your dog is one that,"goes crazy" in the presence of new people and other dogs, Daycare will help to teach more appropriate behavior. Many times, it's the novelty of seeing other dogs that gets them so excited. Daycare decreases the novelty, we make sure that only calm behavior gets them access to their playmates. If your dog gets too wild in play, we will gently take him out of the group, until he calms down .
A little Daycare will go a long way in developing good manners.

A place for Paws offers doggy daycare weekdays from 7am to 6pm.
All sociable dogs are welcome.
